Songs by Kimbo
Kimbo began writing songs at a very young age. She would put on performances for anyone she could trap including neighbors, friends and family. As she got older her confidence and bravery dwindled and she didn't want to be someone who was socially ridiculed. That was during her teen and early adult years. Now she has more confidence than ever. Kimbo knows that life on earth is fleeting and we get only one shot at it. She's now bursting with an energy and creativity that she wants to share with everyone!
She credits all of her favorite songwriters & singers for instilling this passion to entertain others. She went to her first concert, B.J. Thomas, at the tender age of 6. After that she moved on to Shawn Cassidy , Phil Collins, INXS, Van Halen, and Neil Diamond. Her list of favorites is endless. Billy Joel and Elton John are alltime "awesome" to her and let's not forget Fleetwood Mac, Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton, James Taylor, Billie Holiday and Carol King, Oh, the King himself, Elvis Presley!!! It's never ending . Kimbo was raised around bands and their families. Her step-father and his family were all music people. She sang in the school chorus and church choirs during childhood and into her early adult years. Many other friends, acquaintances, family and in-law members have been musically inclined and she loves to hang out with them as much as possible to talk shop and share new work. She has competed in local singing competitions and regularly performs for her community, church functions and local theatrical performances.
Life has taken her around many twists and turns. She uses every experience to draw from in order to create new work and opportunities. She's always goofed around with creating songs and diddies but she's only been marketing herself as a songwriter/singer since 1999. That's when she approached her friend and musician, Kirby Griffin to help with the "Uphill Livin" album/project (her first album). She feels extremely lucky to have had his help. Kimbo loves music so she attends and supports as many concerts as she can with her extremely busy schedule. She's bravely approached many well known talents/bands such as Reba McIntyre, Marty Stuart, Frankie Avalon, Amy Grant and T.Graham Brown with serious offers to them as a songwriter. Kimbo has copyrighted much of her works through the Library of Congress in Washington D.C. and is a member of ASCAP. She encourages others to learn all that they can about this music business if they're serious. The things she's learned have been extremely valuable. Most of all her advice and attitude is "Go for It".
Kimbo does not have a band of her own but intends to one day, when the time is right. Now all that she wants to do is create and have her work out there for others to enjoy.
